I do not understand one thing: I has to cost a lot of money for the AAC to have a base, in this case Javelin Barracks (Ex RAF Bruggen), open for just 4 gazelle helicopter-aircraft.
Why not Relocate the 12Flt to Niederrhein? There is a perfect helicopter ramp (Ex RAF/18sqn) on the North-Western side of the airport!
Would be a noce move: From Wildenrath to Bruggen and Bruggen to Laarbruch... ehmm Niederrhein!
Army Air Corps BAse Niederrhein
Just a hunch...
But I do hope they have found NRN now... It was very nice to hear them on the scanner (*) again.
"ArmyAir033 a Gazelle helicopter with two P.O.B just airborne from bruggen for an IFR flight to Niederrhein"
*= This is the scanner I only use on the durch side of the Border...
Greetzzzzzzzzzzz, Ron

I saw at another topic that someone told the Gazelle and An where for Kalker.
Indeed a great idea to base the Gazelle's at Niederrhein, but ..
.... Javelin Baracks is a normal Army base, so it doesn't cost more to base the helicopters there.
......I believe the main job of 12 fligth is flying around for the guys from Rheindahlen HQ. Brüggen is closer to Rheindahlen than Niederrhein.
I know that the Royal Army is very active at airports like Paderborn for troup transports. Maybe they also wanna use NRN for this job ...???
See ya
