Martin

Re: Tornado in Weeze 09-04-2008

Re: Tornado in Weeze 09-04-2008
Evening all just a quick foot note to the Tornado ZD745.
As Ron wrote, it was ex Bruggen in fact ex 14 squadron as 'BM'. My flight was in ZD746 'BL' and yes I did
enjoy the flight. A slight correction to Rolf's posting he is no longer a Wing Commander since Fiday he's a Group
Captain and Station Commander from RAF Marham. Never the less it was still a memorable afternoon
Thanks to the Museumsverein keep up the good work Dick

Abend nochmal I made a mistake above he will be a station commander but not from Marham. I thought I'd note
this before any replies. Okay Dick

Re: Tornado in Weeze 09-04-2008
In the period that I was spotting at Bruggen, ZD745 was first coded ''AB'' from 9sqn but was soon transferred to "BM" 14sqn.
@dickmann, so you have flown in a GR1? Wauwie, weren't you scared that someting went wrong? I recall them tornados take of at Bruggen in four ship formations, but many times 1 or 2 got u/s and returned to their squadron.
One time a saw a GR.1 ending up in the Barrier (at Laarbruch) could not believe my eyes!!!
Sadly for me all remaining airborne tornados diverted to Bruggen and the field was closed for a while.

Re: Tornado in Weeze 09-04-2008
Congratulations! Nice to hear that, and sorry for not noticing that he wore one more strip on each shoulder yesterday. During his last visit it was (unvisible) one less. In German it means he advanced from Oberstleutnant to Oberst. Not bad!since Fiday he's a Group Captain
A high ranking friend of Laarbruch in the RAF! Very good!

I never got to go in a Tornado! I had just two 'Air Experience Flights' at Laarbruch. One in a Hunter and the other in a 2 Sqn, Jaguar 'T' Bird.
Cheers,
